Solid and Abrasive
Solid and Abrasive pumping requires careful consideration due to the damage which can be done with solids and abrasive material moving at high velocity through pumps and associated pipework. Depending on the nature of the solids, concentration and hardness determines what pumping solution is sought.
Thought must also be given to how solids are conveyed as differing pump technologies can keep particles whole, squash, macerate or be damaged which may be undesirable. Seal mechanisms also need to be designed to accommodate such solids and if specified incorrectly it may lead to frequent seal replacement, loss of efficiency and downtime.
We will work with you to maximise pump lifespan which may include reducing the velocity of pumped media, wear resistant parts, oversized casing or open impellers for solid passage. Accessories can also be installed to reduce solid size or macerate. Clogging points such as small inlets, or valves within the pump can be eliminated to reduce blockages or dual seal / lubricated seal designs to reduce seal wear prolonging life.
