Hygienic Pump Connections

An Overview of Hygienic Pump Connections Available on Pumps

Pumps can be fitted with a variety of different socketed pipework connections with different features and hygiene ratings. The below overview aims to cover some of the differences between the various types of connections available on pumps as although certain types of fitting may be hygienic they are not cleaning in place friendly meaning to maintain an effective hygiene program, the pump must be frequently dissassembled and cleaned manually:

  Garolla

A fitting which is designed to be used with clamps for ease of connection.   Can be disassembled without tools and is CIP friendly.

DIN 11851 Pump Connection

DIN11851 Union

This type of fitting is used extensively in Europe and the middle east   within Dairies, food, pharmaceutical and chemical plants. Used in conjunction   with a union to seal it is used with a flush lipped D shaped seal. Due to the   crevice between the faces this joint is not suitable for CIP.
