Peristaltic Pump with Hydraulic Motor for Water Based Dye Transfer
Requirement from an OEM for an Hydraulically Driven pump
Here at North Ridge Pumps, we often get application requests that challenge us, this case study for water-based dye transfer is no different. We were approached by an OEM that required a special solution for their machinery. They needed a pump that could transfer water-based dye in small quantities, however the motor needed to be hydraulic, it was not possible to use an electric motor.
Their machinery utilises a conveyor system to move bark chippings, soil etc while dye is pumped and sprayed over them to produce a consistent colour. It was important for the customer that the pump was reliable, easy to maintain and simple to stock spare parts for.
North Ridge's FMP 40A71 Peristaltic Pump with Hydraulic Motor, NR Hose and Stainless Steel Connections.
In order to evenly spray the products, a flow rate of 1800 L/hr at 3 bar was required, we therefore selected our FMP 40A71 peristaltic pump with hydraulic motor, natural rubber hose and stainless steel connections.
A peristaltic pump is the perfect equipment for this customer. The only part that comes into contact with the dye is the internal rubber hose, this is also the only wearing part, this makes it very simple and cost effective to maintain and stock spare parts. The absence of a mechanical seal means the pump can run dry without the operator having to worry about damaging the pump. We advised the customer to keep at least one spare hose and silicone grease in stock at all times to reduce any downtime if the hose does burst or wear.
The customer was very pleased we suggested such a beneficial pump for their system, they subsequently ordered and now have a reliable hydraulically driven pump in operation.
