Flexible Impeller Pump with Built-In Variable Speed Drive for Milk Transfer at a Dairy Farm
Requirement for a Small Milk Transfer Pump for a UK dairy Farm
A UK dairy farm contacted us requesting a small pump for milk transfer, it was essential that the flow rate could be varied. They wanted a pump that was simple to operate, had a single-phase motor, was easy to clean and was lightweight for moving around site. It was advised that the pump would be cleaned using 80°C water and a low concentration phosphoric acid/caustic solution.
We Supplied our FDA Miniverter Midex Flexible Impeller Pump as the Perfect Solution
Our Miniverter Midex flexible impeller pump is the perfect solution for this application. It is FDA approved for use with food products, is small and lightweight, has a single-phase motor, has a built-in variable speed drive for varying the flow rate and can be cleaned by simply flushing the head through with a cleaning solution.
Flexible vane pumps have a gentle pumping action that does not damage shear sensitive products such as milk and cream. We can install them with different impeller and mechanical seal materials to ensure compatibility with any chemicals used in the cleaning process. Due to the chemicals the farmer used for CIP and the temperature of the water, we installed EPDM in this case.
The Miniverter comes with a stainless steel 316 casing as standard and can be fitted with various types of connections depending on the pipework/hose fittings used on site. In this instance, we installed 1 ½” RJT fittings to make the farmer’s life as simple as possible.
