Barrel Pump Kit for Dispensing Solvent from 25 Litre Jerry Cans and IBCs
Requirement from a Fragrance Producer to Help Dispense Solvents
Glycerine based solvents are used in the manufacture of room fragrance products such as reed diffusers and plug-in type air fresheners. Fragrances and essential oils are added to the solvent with a diluting agent during the manufacturing process. We were contacted by one of these producers that required a solution for dispensing the solvent from various container sizes, including 25 litre jerry cans and 1000 litre IBCs.
The initial stage was to understand more about the solvent, after studying the fluid datasheet and discussions with the customer, we were able to determine that polypropylene and PVC were both compatible with the product. It was also made clear that the solvent was similar in viscosity to water and was not flammable and thus Atex rated equipment was not required.
Our Complete Barrel Pump Kit Solution
To make life as easy and as safe as possible for the customer, we provided a complete solution including pump, electric motor, discharge hose and trigger nozzle. We supplied a 500mm long tubeset for the 25 litre jerry cans and a 1200mm tubeset for the IBCs. This allows the customer to use the same motor, hose and nozzle for the different length pumps, saving them money. Switching the motor and hose is a simple process that can be completed in seconds.
We delivered our seal-less Combiflux FP314 pumps with polypropylene body and ETFE impeller for chemical resistance. The absence of a mechanical seal makes maintenance very simple as the operator does not need to be concerned with seal wear and replacement. 2 metres of PVC discharge hose and polypropylene trigger nozzle were provided to ensure safe and controllable dispensing of the solvent. Our FEM3070 single phase electric motor has a 2 speed switch on the casing to allow higher or lower flow rates depending on the situation or size of container being emptied, the combination of the variable speed motor and trigger nozzle allows for very accurate and low flow rates for filling smaller containers.
