2021 to 2026 USA Model Year Standards for cars and light trucks

The new rules outline that fuel consumption and emissions be reduced by 1.5% each year, with details agreed on the likely technologies required to achieve such targets, leading to lower cost of ownership and decreased fatalities.

Newer modes of light trucks and cars are expected to operate more efficiently and as part of this are likely to include electrification in order to meet the required economy targets. Battery costs are likely to decrease as increased numbers of battery plants and storage are manufactured to meet output emission targets helping to maintain target prices.
