Sanso Magnetic Drive Centrifugal Pumps for University Cooling Experiment

Sanso PMD-L0531G Magnetic Drive PumpsUniversity Requirement for a Low Flow Rate Solution to Cooling a Laser

It is always exciting and rewarding to assist University students and trainee engineers with their projects. One such student was preparing to perform an experiment requiring very low flow rates for cooling a laser.

Their preferences were that the pumps be compact, simple to install, have small connections due to the small-bore pipework and be magnetic drive to avoid any issue with seal failure and reduce maintenance costs.

Our Supply of the Sanso PMD-L0531G Magnetic Drive Pump in Polypropylene

We supplied 3 of our Sanso PMD-L0531G magnetic drive centrifugal pumps in polypropylene with 230V single phase motors to ensure a simple plug and play installation. These units are extremely compact, have 14mm connections and produce a maximum flow rate of 11L/min. The polypropylene ensures chemical compatibility with the low viscosity coolant, this combined with the magnetic drive guarantees zero chance of leakage as there is no mechanical seal.

The Benefits of Using a Magnetic Drive Pump

Magnetic drive is the perfect solution for applications where leakage must be avoided or performing maintenance is difficult due to space or difficulty accessing the pump. There is always the risk of mechanical seal failure in standard pumps due to corrosion and corrosive or hazardous products leaking into the environment can cause safety concerns for operators and irreparable damage to the electric motor, this negates all those risks.

The PMD range is specifically designed for chemical and cooling applications that require low flow rates such as the cooling of medical equipment, chillers, or fuel cells. There are larger models within the range that can produce flow rates up to 80L/min, also for 48V, 24V or 12V DC motor requirements, we can offer the PDH series. For compatibility with a wide range of chemicals and coolants, these pumps can be manufactured in either Noryl or Polypropylene.

This student now has 3 reliable and compact pumps to guarantee their experiment is successful while also giving them peace of mind that the pumps are safe, enabling them to focus on other vital parts of the process.
