Having a well or borehole on your property can be very convenient for agricultural use or general household water supply, however often finding a simple and cost-effective method of extracting the water can be difficult and frustrating for homeowners. One of the main issues facing them is obtaining access to a power supply close to the well, many get around this by purchasing a diesel generator, although some people want to avoid this if possible. 

For those that have no access to an electrical power supply or a generator, a hand operated pump is the ideal solution, this was the case for a recent customer wanting to remove the water from his well for general garden use and also for a water feature. He has a well on his property and before contacting us there was no means of removing the free water and making use of it. 

Powered pumps are driven by either an electric motor or engine that turns the shaft to generate the pumping action, whereas hand pumps rely on the force generated by the operator, this is typically via a rotary or semi-rotary action. As these are hand powered, the flow rate is proportional to how fast the handle is turned and how many revolutions are created.

Our self-priming semi-rotary double acting piston hand pumps are the perfect solution for well applications. They can remove the air in the inlet hose and a perform suction lift from dry without the use of a non-return valve, this means the pump can be installed in a dry area above ground and used as and when required. They are simple to operate and generate flow rates up to 40 litres per minute with very little effort. 

Our Super Lario self-priming hand pumps are manufactured with cast iron casing and NBR seals as standard for use with fresh water, however we can install them with bronze casing and Viton seals for use with other liquids such as seawater, diesel, oil, and solvents. To make life as simple as possible for this customer, we supplied a complete plug and play kit complete with suction filter, check valve, 4 metres of rigid PVC suction hose and 12 metres of NBR discharge hose with anti-drip spout. This property owner can now extract water from his well as and when required without worrying about water bills, he has a simple and cost-effective means of providing water for gardening and general household use.
