Sanso 24VDC Magnetic Drive Process Machinery Cooling Pump

Sanso 24VDC Magnetic Drive Process Machinery Cooling PumpEnquiry From a Food Processing Factory for a Cooling Pump

It is common for food processing plants to operate 24 hours a day to meet up with the high demand from supermarkets, machine failure due to overheating can be catastrophic and cause substantial delays, downtime and ultimately costs through loss of production. The advanced machinery can often require small and precise amounts of cooling to keep the temperature of the internal parts low enough to avoid overheating.

We were contacted by the head of maintenance at a food processing factory that required a replacement for one of their existing cooling pumps, their main problem being the lack of information available on the existing pump as the OEM had removed the application data. By obtaining photos, details of the coolant, dimensional details of the pipework and flow requirements of the equipment, we were able to ascertain the required flow rate and pressure required to make an accurate selection.

Our Compact and Low Flow Rate Sanso Magnetic Drive Pump Solution

There was limited space available for the pump and a very low flow rate requirement of only 13 litres per minute at 1 bar, we therefore selected our compact Sanso PD-E 51 IT6 magnetic drive pump with 24VDC canned brushless motor. Designed specifically for specialist cooling and chemical applications, this range is extremely compact and lightweight, ideal for installation inside equipment requiring low cooling rates and with limited internal space. The 24VDC brushless motor ensures the unit keeps cool during operation and is quiet while also providing high efficiency, high performance, a simple installation process and a long and low maintenance life cycle.

Further Information on the Sanso PD Series

As the Sanso PD series is installed with a magnetic drive rather than a mechanical seal, the possibility of coolant leakage is negated, therefore protecting the motor and other parts inside the machinery from damage. Mechanically sealed pumps inevitably leak as the mechanical seal wears over time, maintenance is always required on a regular basis to check its condition, whereas the magnetic drive ensures lower maintenance and therefore lower life cycle costs.

Magnetic drive is the preferred method of sealing for applications such as this and anything involving a hazardous or corrosive chemical. The supplied PD-E 51 IT6 pump was constructed with a glass filled Ryton casing and impeller, however they can be installed with polypropylene components for aggressive chemicals and additionally either 12V or 48V DC motors can be fitted for alternative power supplies.
