ATEX Hand Pump for Jet A1 Fuel
Transferring Jet A1 Fuel from 205 Litre Drums to the Aircraft
A customer from Nigeria contacted us requiring a hand operated pump for refuelling their light aircraft. The aviation fuel is delivered to them in 205 Litre drums, they needed a safe way of transferring the fuel from the containers to the plane.
Jet fuel is highly flammable and any equipment that is used for its transfer or is installed nearby must be Atex rated to avoid any risk of igniting the fuel or the surrounding atmosphere.
Supply of our FAT ATEX Rated Hand Pump Kit
We have provided solutions for this to many airports in the past and knew exactly what to specify. We selected our FAT ATEX Rated hand pump kit that can transfer fuel at a flow rate of 33 litres per minute. This kit comes complete with bung adapter, 1m rigid suction tube for drums, outlet elbow, flexible delivery hose and manually operated trigger nozzle for safely dispensing into the aircraft fuel tank.
Quite often airstrips can be located in remote areas without easy access to power to enable electric driven pumps to be used, or at times customers prefer to have a backup pump if power supply is intermittent and can not be relied upon.
For added protection, the kit is supplied with earthing wires to prevent the build-up of static within the pump and a suction strainer to prevent sludge or other unwanted debris being transferred into the aircraft.
A fuel filter on the discharge hose was also supplied to capture small particles and any water that may be present. This order was shipped within a week and delivered directly to our customer in Nigeria.
