FLUX air operated motors are compact lightweight drives and yet extremely robust, these motors can cover a vast number of applications from light non-frequent to continuous 24/7 operations, the wide capacity range of these reliable and portable motors make them incredibly versatile thus they can cover almost every market/application where a drum or IBC pump might be required and therefore can be used with the vast majority of our Flux pumps.

Depending on the model these motors are available with/ without tip valve or ball valve, all motors are ATEX (explosion proof) certified designed for hazardous environments or applications, i.e. highly flammable liquids, petrol stations etc.

These compressed air motors are simply controlled by the amount of air fed, the FLUX FPM air operated motor is capable of handling a max. viscosity of 50,000 cps.

FAQS

The standard tubeset lengths are 700 mm for smaller containers - 25 litre jerry cans, 100 litre tanks etc, 1000 mm for 205 litre drums and 1200 mm for IBC's. Other bespoke lengths are available on request.
Firstly, always check the compatibility of the materials available against the fluid being pumped. The main materials to check are the tubeset, impeller, mechanical seal and o-ring. It may be that more than one material is suitable for your fluid and selection could be based on the application type. For instance; PP, PVDF, Stainless steel and aluminium are all suitable for water. If it is a simple transfer application, then the most cost-effective material will be best. However, if it involves another variable to consider such as high temperature, then an alternative material may be a better selection.
There are various motor types, including; air motor, mains powered electric and battery. Selection is either a personal preference or due to site limitations. For instance, if mains power or an air compressor are not available on site, then a battery motor is the obvious choice. The power of the motor will be down to the application details, such as viscosity and flow rate required. An Atex motor will be required if the fluid is flammable or if the pump will be installed in a hazardous area.
A mechanically sealed pump is recommended for abrasive, crystallizing, sticky and high temperature fluids. A sealless type pump is be recommended for all other fluid types.
ATEX is an abbreviation of “Atmospheres Explosibles”. It is a regulation set out by the European Union to ensure the safety of products that are used to handle flammable products or are installed in environments containing flammable gases, vapours, mists or combustible dusts. For instance, if the pump is being installed in an explosive environment, then only the motor needs to meet the Atex standard stopping it from causing a spark during operation and igniting the atmosphere. However, if the fluid being pumped is flammable, then the pump will also need to meet Atex standards to ensure that no sparks are caused inside the pump itself when the fluid goes through it. It is crucial that an Atex rated pump or motor are used for applications involving explosive environments or flammable fluids, using a non-Atex pump or motor in these situations is extremely dangerous and contravenes health and safety standards.
Please be aware that the figures displayed relate to the largest pump from this range of products, not specific models. For details on viscosity for specific models, please refer to datasheets or contact a member of our sales team.
