Our Modular External Gear Pumps (MGHP) are designed to handle clean low to medium viscosity lubricating fluids. Due to their positive displacement design these units are suitable for high pressure applications up to 30 bar, depending on the selected model configuration and fluid being pumped.
Working Principle
A Modular Gear Pump is a type of External Gear Pump used for the transfer of viscous fluids at low speed. Two sets of interlocking gears are offset within the pump head, with 2 gears located at the front of the pump head, and 2 to the rear to ensure the rotary forces remain balanced.
Gears are mounted above each other, with one gear driven by the motor, while the other is driven by the rotating gear.
Liquid enters the spaces between teeth before travelling around the outer casing towards the discharge. Fluid does not flow between meshing teeth.
Its simple construction involving only two rotating parts with tight clearances is one of the secrets of our gear pumps high efficiency. As there is virtually zero slip whilst the unit is in operation, it serves as a great option for use within metering applications where a consistent flow of non pulsating flow is required.
This design of pump enables pressures of up to 20 bar to be produced, with less noise generated than an internal gear pump due to the internal gear design and working movement.
Due to the tight clearances between gears, these pumps are only suitable for lubricating clean liquids.
Our modular gear pumps can be supplied with external bypass valve for pipework and unit protection and heating or cooling jacket for maintaining of fluids temperatures upon request.
This pump range is available with a variety of seal types such as mechanical seal, cartridge seal, packing seal and lip seals.
Our pump's high efficiency means their energy consumption is minimal making them consequently a great option for continuous operation.
Due to units being available in a variety of materials, pump sizes, sealing options and handling up to 30 bar operating pressure, our modular gear pumps can be used for a wide range of applications involving low to medium viscosity liquids which are non-abrasive, lubricating and clean.
Due to their rotary positive displacement design, their output flow is non-pulsating enabling their use in metering applications. Some of the most common fluids our modular gear pumps are used for are fuels, oils, grease, resins and adhesives in continuous applications.
Certification
Our Range are available with ATEX (explosion proof) (UKCAEX) motors for hazardous environments and applications, Units are manufactured according to UKCA and CE standards, complying with all UK and European regulations.
These pumps are also available with marine class certification upon request.
