DESCRIPTION

XMMO Horizontal Multistage Multi Outlet Pump

Multistage Multi Outlet Pumps are a design of pump which have a single inlet, but twin outlets delivering two discharge pressures simultaneously.

They are utilized in high rise buildings as fire suppression pumps for four reasons:

1. They eliminate the requirement for water storage tanks at intermediate levels within a building.

2. Eliminate the requirement for pressure reducing valves meaning equipment is more efficient.

3. Over pressurisation of sprinkler heads is prevented.

4. Two duties from one pump saves on equipment cost as required duties can be achieved by a single model.

Design Characteristics
The XMMO is capable of producing pressures up to 55bar and flows up to 1000M³H. Designed for Heavy Duty Applications the XMMO is built to BB4 Standards meaning the unit is radially split, has a between bearing design, dual lifetime grease lubricated bearings and wear rings to ensure casing life is prolonged.

This unit can also be utilized in other applications such as water transfer or irrigation where two duty points may be required. If connected to a Variable Speed Drive a multitude of duty points are achievable across both discharges.

Materials can be specified to enable the handling of Seawater, Chemicals or Fuels. This model is also ATEX rated, making it suitable for installation in flammable atmospheres.

Flanges can be rotated according to customers requirements with inlet / outlets rotated at 90° angles to match pipework.

FAQS

Multistage Multi Outlet Pumps are a design which have a single inlet, but twin outlets delivering two discharge pressures simultaneously.
They are utilized in high rise buildings as fire suppression pumps for four reasons:
1. They eliminate the requirement for water storage tanks at intermediate levels within a building.
2. Eliminate the requirement for pressure reducing valves meaning equipment is more efficient.

4. Two duties from one pump saves on equipment cost as required duties can be achieved by a single model.
Centrifugal pumps typically have only one impeller, whereas a multistage pump has multiple impellers or stages mounted on a single rotating shaft. The multiple impellers allow for higher pressures to be generated, than could be generated by a single impeller.
Multistage pumps have high efficiencies due to the tolerances and clearances being very small within the pump casing. They use closed impellers, and are more efficient that a single stage centrifugal design.

Due to tolerances and clearances being small within this design, it means unless units are very large or oversized, they are unable to accommodate solids.
