Stainless Steel Rotary Hand Pumps for Monoethanolamine Transfer
Monoethanolamine Extraction Enquiry from a CO2 Capture Manufacturer
North Ridge Pumps received an enquiry from a CO2 Capture manufacturer that needed to extract Monoethanolamine (MEA or ETA) from a sump at the bottom of a scrubber.
Monothanolamine or MEA is an amine which is a derivative of ammonia. It is used in scrubbers as a solvent to create a reaction with CO2 leading to the creation of Carbamate after being absorbed.
The pump needed to be self priming, and not react with the chemical. Great care needed to be taken to ensure the pump did not contain traces of a specific materials which could cause the MEA to react and create a gas.
Our Solution of a Rotary Vane Hand Pump in Stainless Steel with PTFE Vains
We selected our V2 Inox Rotary Vane Hand Pumps which are manufactured from Stainless Steel with PTFE Vanes.
The pumps are self priming and fully reversible. Due to the vane design the pumps can be mounted either horizontally or vertically without issue.
