One of the most important processes on a farm is ensuring the livestock are supplied with enough drinking water and food. It is essential for farmers that water is obtained in an economical manner as consumption from the animals is high.
We were contacted by a farmer that had a deep well on his land and he wanted to extract the water so that he had a means of supplying fresh drinking water for his livestock. It was explained that the water was 5 metres below ground and that only a standard single-phase power supply was available. After discussions, we were able to ascertain that around 40 litres per minute of water was required and that after accounting for the vertical lift and horizontal frictional losses in the pipework, 2 bar of pressure was needed.

The Nocchi Jetinox range is excellent for applications such as this. We selected the Jetinox 60/50 model, this has a stainless-steel body and Technopolymer impeller making it suitable for drinking water as the internal parts are non-ferrous. It is self-priming and can perform suction lifts up to 7 metres vertically with the use of a foot valve, making it excellent for extracting water from deep wells for agricultural use, pressure boosting, jet washing and drinking water applications.
This self-priming pump has a maximum flow rate of 60 L/min and a maximum pressure of 5 bar, however larger models in the range can produce up to 80L/min. This range has a compact design for small installations, and it comes with BSP connections as standard for easily connecting to pipework and hoses.
The farmer now has a reliable and cost-effective means of supplying clean drinking water for his animals without fear of excessive water bills.
