Hand Pump Kit for Viscous Polycaprolactone Polyols
The Use of Hand Pumps For Highly Viscous Fluids
Quite often we are contacted by customers that try using conventional budget hand pumps for highly viscous fluids with no success, these are typically designed for thin liquids such as water, the pump either ends up becoming damaged or simply will not pump at all. Our recommendation is usually to switch to either an electric/air powered pump or to use a double acting piston hand pump if the product is non-corrosive.
In this instance, the customer had purchased a cheap plastic hand pump online and attempted to transfer a highly viscous polycaprolactone polyol unsuccessfully. Commonly referred to as polycaprolactonetetraol, this fluid is used is the manufacture of sealant, adhesives, elastomers, reactive diluents, and acrylic coatings.
Our Supply of the Extremely Robust Raasm 30200 Double Acting Piston Hand Pump Kit
After obtaining the exact viscosity figure and determining that this liquid is non-corrosive, we supplied our Raasm 30200 double acting piston hand pump kit. This model is extremely robust to enable the transfer of thick products that would usually clog standard hand pumps. The supplied kit comes complete with a 2 metre discharge hose and spout with valve to ensure safe and clean dispensing. The carbon steel suction tube is adjustable from 0.7 to 1.04 metres, this allows the flexibility of using the pump with various drum sizes between 50 and 220kg/litres.
By simply moving the handle up and down, the fluid is drawn up through the suction tube with ease and dispensed out the discharge hose, each complete lever cycle transfers 220g meaning containers can be emptied in a very short space of time.
