DESCRIPTION

Simplex Basket strainers are a type of strainer used in horizontal pipework to filter solids from fluids. They are typically designed to allow 100% flow with little pressure drop, and can be maintained in situ, providing process can be interrupted.

Designs consist of a single inlet and outlet with top accessible cover allowing easy access to the inner strainer.

Our models are available in a wide Selection of Materials enabling suitability for most processes and liquids with temperatures up to 200°C. Materials available include:

Alloy20
Bronze
Carbon Steel
Cast Iron
Ductile Iron
Duplex
Hastelloy
Stainless Steel 304, 316 or 316L
Super Duplex

Applications

Such models are typically used for:

-       Pump protection & Flowmeter protection

-       Instrumentation protection such as gauges, or analysers

-       Nozzle protection

Benefits:

-       100% Full Flow due to large surface area design with low pressure drop.

-       Maintain in situ without system drainage

-       Available up to 8”

-       Various fittings available including Screwed ports, Socket weld, PN16 or ANSI Flanges

-       Accessories available including differential pressure indicator to detect clogging, magnets for ferrous metal removal and heating jackets

FAQS

A simplex strainer is a horizontal unit, consisting of an inlet, outlet and removable basket secured by a lid with bolts. Such designs enable 100% flow to pass through the mesh, due to its large surface area.
Simplex strainers allow maintenance in situ however processes must be stopped before access can be made to clear strainers. Duplex strainers ensure process can continue to run without stoppage for maintenance.
Units can be manufactured in a wide range of materials ensuring compatibility with fluids ranging from fresh water, to chemicals, oils, solvents, acids, alkalis, and seawater.
