A: Yes – positive displacement pumps offer the highest accuracy when metering or dosing fluids due to a fixed volume of displacement being made per revolution of operation. Centrifugal pumps are no where near as accurate and require operation in conjunction with a flowmeter to remain accurate as there performance alters according to pressure.
A:High viscosity fluids flow less easily and more time is required for fluids to enter the pump head. If insufficient time is given for high viscosity fluids to enter pump housings then chambers inside internal pump parts will not fill completely, leading to inconsistency in flow rates. If the viscosity of a fluid is beyond the capability of a pump it can lead to inefficiency meaning recirculation within the pump head known as pump slip, clogging of the pump inlet and inability of the pump to transfer the fluid.
A:Providing the fluid temperature and viscosity are within the handling range of the pump there should be no issues with pump accuracy. However if temperatures exceed acceptable levels it can cause pump parts to swell altering dispensed amounts, cause recirculation within the pump and potentially leakage.
